Wallpaper needs a stable, even substrate
Wallpaper can give a room strong character without complete renovation, but joints and uneven areas remain visible if the wall is poorly prepared. Komfortliv wallpapers feature walls, smaller rooms and defined projects in Oslo homes, offices and rental properties after reviewing the substrate, product, pattern and work sequence.
The service can include removal of loose wallpaper, local filling, primer, painting adjacent surfaces and final cleaning. Extensive substrate repair, moisture damage and larger building work are separately assessed.
What we assess before installation
Send the product link or a clear label photo. Paper, non-woven, vinyl and specialist wallcoverings can require different methods. Expensive, hand-printed or very delicate products may be referred to a specialist where the risk is high.
- Whether the wall is dry, firm, clean and sufficiently even.
- Whether existing wallpaper can remain or must be removed or sealed.
- Wallpaper and adhesive type and the manufacturer's instructions.
- Pattern repeat, roll width and cutting allowance.
- Corners, recesses, windows and doors.
- The first drop and balanced pattern placement.
- Furniture and surfaces requiring protection.
Preparation and work sequence
The wall is cleaned and loose material removed. Holes and obvious uneven areas are filled and sanded, while absorbent or inconsistent surfaces may need primer. The first drop is set vertically and the pattern planned around openings and corners.
Adhesive and seams follow the product instructions. Residue is removed before drying. The room should remain at a stable temperature without strong draughts, and furniture should not be returned against the wall until sufficiently dry.
Price, quantity and materials
Wallpapering starts from NOK 450/m² including VAT, with a Booking PUBLIC_1_2 minimum order of NOK 3,900. A fixed quote may be offered when wall area, product, pattern, corners and preparation are known. Wallpaper, adhesive, primer, filler and protection are additional.
Quantity depends on more than square metres. Pattern repeat, trimming, damage and future repairs mean extra material from the same batch is usually advisable. Purchases are made only after customer approval.
Limitations and realistic finish
Wallpaper does not hide major waves, active cracks or moisture. Joints may also behave differently across an inconsistent substrate. Required preparation and the realistic finish are stated before work. Full skim coating or extensive repair is quoted separately.
Frequently asked questions
Can you wallpaper only one feature wall?
Yes. A feature wall is often suitable for a fixed quote when measurements, product and substrate are documented.
Must old wallpaper be removed?
Not always, but loose material, raised joints and uneven areas need treatment before new wallpaper.
How much wallpaper should I buy?
It depends on wall height, roll width and pattern repeat. Send measurements and product data before ordering.
Can wallpapering be combined with painting?
Yes. Ceilings, trim or other walls can be painted when the sequence and drying time are planned.
