Construction dust requires a specific method
After painting, filling, flooring or other renovation, fine dust can settle on skirting boards, inside cabinets, around doors and on technical surfaces. Ordinary cleaning is often insufficient because dust is redistributed unless work is completed in the correct sequence. Komfortliv provides post-construction cleaning in Oslo after small and medium-sized renovation projects in homes, offices and shops.
Before quoting, we assess the floor area, work completed, amount of dust, whether contractors are still on site and which rooms must be ready for use. Photos may be sufficient for smaller jobs; we recommend a site visit for larger or less predictable projects.
Three possible levels of post-construction cleaning
- Initial clearance: collecting light construction waste and preparing for detailed cleaning once the waste types are confirmed.
- Interim cleaning: removing dust during the project so the next phase can proceed in a cleaner space.
- Final cleaning: systematic cleaning of accessible surfaces, floors, skirting boards, doors, kitchens and bathrooms before occupation or use.
The levels are not automatically combined. The customer and Komfortliv agree the areas included and whether contractors must finish before cleaning begins. New dust created afterwards is treated as a new or extended job.
What should be ready before work begins?
Large material remnants, sharp objects, paint, chemicals and contractor waste should be removed. Safe access, working lighting, electricity and water should normally be available. Paint, sealants and other treatments must cure according to the supplier's instructions before surfaces are cleaned.
We need information about new or vulnerable materials, including natural stone, untreated wood, specialist glass and newly painted surfaces. The wrong method can damage an uncured surface, so where necessary we test a small area first.
Waste and hazardous materials
Transport and disposal of ordinary waste are assessed separately by type, quantity and destination. Hazardous waste, asbestos, chemicals, biological material and other regulated waste are not handled as part of ordinary post-construction cleaning. If suspected, work must stop and an appropriate specialist must be contacted.
Pricing and delivery
Guide prices start from NOK 875 per labour hour including VAT. The usual minimum order value is NOK 3,000. Price depends on the area, dust level, number of phases, height, access, equipment and crew size. Travel, parking, tolls, cleaning products, specialist equipment and waste fees are additional where relevant.
A fixed quote requires a stable scope. If other work continues or rooms are added, we confirm the change before using extra time. Payment is by Vipps or invoice.
Frequently asked questions
Must all contractors have finished?
Dust-producing work should be complete before final cleaning. Interim cleaning can take place during the project, but its result and scope are agreed as a separate phase.
Do you remove paint and sealant from every surface?
We can assess small residues, but aggressive scraping or chemical removal can damage the substrate. Risk and method must be agreed before inclusion.
Can you clean new windows?
Yes, if accessible and marks can be removed without damaging glass, frames or coatings. Adhesive, silicone and construction residue are priced after assessment.
How long does post-construction cleaning take?
It depends more on dust and detail than floor area alone. Photos and a site visit allow a more accurate estimate of crew and time.
Get a realistic estimate: Send photos of all rooms, the floor area, renovation type, required completion date and what the contractor will remove.
