New silicone does not solve every cause of staining
Silicone around a worktop, sink, shower or bath can discolour, become brittle or detach. Komfortliv renews visible flexible seals where the surrounding area appears dry and stable. This is surface maintenance—not repair of a membrane, hidden leak or structural fault.
Before confirming the job, send overview and close-up photos of the full seal. Report leaks, odour, soft materials, loose tiles or recurring mould, as the underlying cause may need specialist investigation first.
What the service can include
Complete removal of every trace may be difficult on porous or damaged surfaces. We use a method intended to reduce scratching but cannot promise that old staining in tile, grout, stone or laminate will disappear.
- Careful removal of accessible old silicone.
- Cleaning loose residue from seal edges.
- Drying and preparing a suitable substrate.
- Applying new silicone in an agreed colour and product type.
- A simple check of adhesion, finish and continuity.
- Guidance on curing time before use.
Bathrooms, showers and wet areas
Visible silicone is only one part of a wet-room system. Loose tiles, movement, leaking or suspected membrane damage stop the cosmetic job until an appropriate professional assesses the cause. We do not open the construction or carry out membrane work as ordinary sealing.
Surface mould may leave with the old seal, but recurring growth can arise from ventilation, moisture or contamination behind it. Applying new silicone without treating the cause may produce only a short-lived result.
Kitchens, preparation and curing
Kitchen seals often sit between worktops, walls and sinks. The area must be clean, dry and accessible, and loose worktops, leaking pipes or damaged walls must be repaired first. A new colour may differ from aged silicone.
Remove bottles, textiles and loose items before the visit. Do not expose the new seal to water or cleaning until the product's stated curing time has elapsed; this varies with seal depth, temperature and ventilation.
Price and limitations
Silicone sealing starts from NOK 220 per linear metre including VAT, with a usual minimum order of NOK 3,000. Length, access, removal difficulty, drying and additional cleaning affect the price. Silicone, cleaning products, travel, parking and tolls are additional.
If moisture or an unstable substrate is discovered, completed agreed work is charged and the reason for stopping is documented.
Frequently asked questions
Can new silicone be applied over old silicone?
Normally no. Loose, damaged or stained material is removed as far as the substrate safely allows.
Will replacing silicone remove all mould?
Not necessarily. Surface staining may be removed, while moisture, ventilation or growth behind the seal needs separate treatment.
When can the shower be used?
After the recommended curing time for the chosen product and conditions; we provide this guidance after application.
Do you repair bathroom membranes?
No. Membranes and hidden wet-room damage require assessment by the relevant qualified professional.
